Yesterday was the first time the temperature rose above freezing this year, and today was beautiful, for January. I took a walk south along one of the old town roads criss-crossing the Quabbin Reservoir watershed lands near me, starting at Gate 30.
It was lovely. A few people hiking here and there, a few birds calling, a red squirrel chattering for no good reason, a raven kawkking unseen. I looked at the ordinary landscape here, and found it good.
And somebody was glad to see me when I got home.

Thanks for sharing your woods.
And that's quite a possessive cat you've got. :)
Nice day for walking!
Those birches are lovely, the bark has so much texture, it captures the attention at this time of year!
Lovely! But I especially love that meaningful glare and th paw attached to your wrist......
Mmmm...I love winter. That walk would have been hot and cuddling with a kitty too much if it was summer.
Such beauty! I especially liked the beech and the barks.
Woods in winter. I love them. And the blue, the BLUE of shadows on snow. As Naomi said: thank you for sharing your woods with us.
Beautiful...thanks for sharing!
Great pictures, of the woods and wild life - specifically the serious kitty who seems to be attempting to tell you telepathically that you are never, ever supposed to go off and leave him/her again.
DH called me outside last night to hear two (or more) owls who were having an extended "conversation".
As it was late at night there was nothing to be seen except blackness.
Your pictures show what could not be seen.
Janey, who was just surfing by - so therefore I do not know any of your kitty details

Those pictures were all so pretty and serene, then the cat at the end patronizingly and annoyedly staring right into the camera was just such a funny juxtaposition!
